After the public voting period of the Globe Soccer Awards 2020, Cristiano Ronaldo is leading in two important categories. Including the Player of the Century award.
The organizers announced that more than 13 million fans participated in the final round of voting, bringing the total to 21 million. Ronaldo received 42 percent of the vote for Player of the Year.
While Robert Lewandowski followed closely and came second with 38 percent of the vote. Lionel Messi is third with the remaining 20 percent of the vote.
The Player of the Century award with candidates Mohamed Salah, Ronaldo, Messi and Lewandowski is receiving much attention. In the Club of the Century category, it was quite surprising that the Egyptian football monument Al Ahly surpassed Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Fan votes contributed 40 percet to the overall decision, with the remaining 60 percent going to the jury. Ronaldo has won 6 times of the Player of the Year award with 4 consecutive victories since 2016, and Messi has won exactly once.
That same year, Ronaldo had a spectacular turn-over in the Golden Ball race after FIFA extended the voting period. In the remaining key category is Representative of the Year, Jorge Mendes dominates with 9 out of 10 being named.
So, the media said that although Robert Lewandowski performed extremely well and won The Best 2020 convincingly. No one will be surprised if Cristiano Ronaldo is the one to be honored at the upcoming awards ceremony.
Except for the award from the Italian Football Federation, they never thought there would be a day when referees also had a prize like this. They always think that the people behind everything are the best.
